World Breastfeeding Week: August 1-7
Just thought I’d make a little announcement here that it’s World Breastfeeding Week — a week of educating men and women about the benefits of breastfeeding and to raise awareness that formula isn’t the only way to go. I hope to do a post later this week about my own experience with nursing our two boys and will likely also try to point you to some other blogs for those who are interested in learning more and discussing the subject.

I am all for breastfeading. This has been the hardest part of raising Aubrey. She has had more reflex, and slept through the night at least 3 months later than Izzy did. Plus it is a guess at how much she needs, when she needs more in her growth (have to go by the charts for this rather than just producing more according to her needs) I am thankful for formula when needed in emergencies yet a full supporter for breastfeading first. I will definately breastfeed my next Lord willing. Interested in what you have to say in your article.

You should check out the Breastfeeding Cafe they set up at the downtown library during World Breastfeeding Week – it’s great. You just drop by and hang out with other mamas for a while, and they have some toys for toddlers to play with. (LOVE LOVE LOVE the Salt Lake library, if you haven’t been you must go now!)

Katch, I’m all for formula when it’s needed and I’m glad Aubrey had it available to her. I can’t imagine not being able to nurse my baby; that’s rough.
Sarah, thanks for the tip. I will definitely have to check that out. I got the LLL email about it.
