Reading goals for 2009?

Inspired by a number of fellow bloggers who actually keep track of what they read and (gasp) even review them, I’d like to have some reading goals (dare I say resolutions?) for the year.

1. Keep track of what I read, including dissertation books.
2. Review said books on the blog (even if it’s just a paragraph).
3. Read at least one *fun* book per month — which generally means a novel for me.
4. Read the Bible in a year with Bryce.

What’s currently on my nightstand:
What Mothers Do, Mama, PhD, The Prodigal God, and the Bible. I’m also working my way through Hume’s Treatise of Human Nature (again) for the dissertation.

What are you reading and what reading goals do you have for this year?

My goal is to just read more. :) I am currently reading “The Friday Night Knitting Club”. That’s all the commitment I can make is 1 book at a time. I am busy with life, kids, and a business. ;) Thanks for sharing!

Keeping the same goals: plan better (which encompasses “choose wisely”), read more, write reviews. Reviews are the hardest! I also have the Prodigal God literally on my nightstand, but I haven’t started it yet. :)

I am reading the Natashas. Inside The New Global Sex Trade. It is very stunning and terrible. A great fuel for prayer and reality of modern day slavery. It’s by Victor Malarek

I look forward to your reviews. I made a goal of a book a month last year and nearly doubled that amount. I have really enjoyed reading since becoming a mom, but mostly have only enough mental energy for fiction and the Bible…and an occasional book on parenting or something. I plan to read just as much or more this year and am always looking for a good recommendation. Thanks for sharing!

I like keeping track of the books I read through the “WeRead” application on Facebook. Ideally I would blog a review about each thing I read but I am too lazy. I have been catching up on classic sci-fi books recently. I just finished Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.

I’m finishing the last of Jhumpa Lahiri’s novel and two short story collections. I’ve enjoyed them. I also always have multiple nonfiction works underway (one parenting, one “religious”).

Thanks everyone for your comments. Now you all must review your current reads on your blogs!

I am reading No Ordinary Home by Carol Brazo, and will definitely be blogging about it at some point. I also have The World According to Bertie (from the 44 Scotland Street series) by Alexander McCall Smith on hold at the library. :)
