October is Fair Trade month
Celebrate October by buying Fair Trade. Oxfam has information about how to celebrate Fair Trade month that you may find helpful. If you have a Trader Joe’s near you, they stock fairly traded coffee (the workers get paid a living wage), so pick some up and save the world! I know it’s not nearly that easy, but buying Fair Trade is an important way to “care for the least of these” amongst us globally. Also if you’re in the LA area, consider buying gifts or coffees/teas at Ten Thousand Villages on Lake in Pasadena, or shop from their website.
I’ll do my best to get a post up on the whys of buying Fair Trade by the end of the month.

There is a fair trade month?
Jumping jack flash!!! that really grinds my gears. Why does there have to be a month associated with everything.
We should make September Urminsky Month. We can celebrate all of us Urminskys.

Okay so if September is Urminsky month, I guess March or April should be Hales month. I’ll let Bryce decide.
I understand your point that there is a month for everything, but in the case of fair trade, I’m happy to trot along if it promotes awareness (especially here in the US where fair trade is generally unheard of, or at best, misunderstood).

Ashley – i agree about fair trade being unheard of or misunderstood here. I must admit that I don’t know much about it. I’m looking forward to your post about it soon.

Hey Ashley, on a totally other subject…just looked at some of Ezra’s pictures on Flickr…he is SO adorable…and has such personality in his pictures.
On the Fair Trade Topic…I’m pleased that for knitters, there is more and more fair trade yarn/wool available…including gorgeous silk sari bits spun into knitting fibers…funnily the fair trade stuff is some of the most beautiful. It’s great when that happens.
