After 16 months in Scotland…
…we finally found somewhere to eat a good AND cheap meal! And we even got to sit down, bonus! It’s called Kebab Mahal by the Uni. Date nights shall be forever cooler now.
AND random blogger survey:
1. What is your favourite meal under 5 bucks/quid?
2. What is your attitude toward ‘the Church’?
3. What is one book that has affected the way you live? (not allowed to say the Bible, a given for all you Xtns)
4. What is a physical attribute of which you are most proud? or most embarrassed about?
5. Name a few ways you actually put what you believe into daily practice.
Cheers!

I’ll start.
1. most things at the newly discovered Kebab Mahal
2. The Church is the body of Christ and it is for whom Christ died; and sadly, the idea of ‘the Church’ has slipped so that we only seem to care about ‘individual religious faith’. That’s the short answer.
3. Still working on that one, but for sure Horton’s Putting Amazing back into Grace.
4. proud: cute hair, sometimes. bad: not too keen on my nose or chin, but they’re fine
5. thinking about the intersection of faith and life, walking instead of taking public transport, trying not to spend money, looking for ways to be a good steward of my money (in where and how I shop and getting clothes together to donate, for instance).

1. Either an In N Out double-double animal style or Chipotle steak burrito
2. I see the Church as divided between those who hold true to absolutes and Biblical inerrancy and those who wish to make the ‘church’ culturally relevant.
3. Given your restrictions, can’t think of one that changed the way I live.
4. Most embarrassed - that ‘thin’ spot the shines in every picture from the rear. Wouldn’t mind changing - a few inches taller and more than a few pounds lighter. Most proud - not silver-haired YET.
5. Contributing to missionary, meeting weekly with accountability group and church groups, trying to put aside my Adam self.

1. Del Taco chicken soft tacos with guacamole, bean & cheese burrito(s).
2. Not sure exactly what to put here, except that the Church is the bride of Christ, and its importance, as you have noted, has been diminished by emotion-seeking, individual-driven worship and ministry.
3. The Reign of the Servant Kings by Jody Dillow. I will admit, though, that I haven’t read the whole thing. It’s huge.
4. proud: my hands. bad: my skin–still prone to breakouts.
5. Avoiding the gossip mill at work–this is a difficult but important one. Giving money to our church and several missionaries. Spending money wisely and conservatively–buying clothes mostly only when needed, not just wanted.

1. Hmm… it might be a combo platter from Taco Bueno. Yeah, I’ll go with that.
2. I love that there is “the Church” and that Christ is her head.
3. Hmm. Most recently, “Fast Food Nation” has made me determined to cut back on fast food and never eat McDonald’s again. A couple of Postman’s books have lead to a considerably less amount of watching television.
4. Hmm… interesting question. I’d say my eyes, I guess… and my male pattern balding, though I am coming to terms with that, I suppose.
5. I work with kids; I worship with my church; I examine my life, thoughts, and actions in light of the gospel.

1. In-n-Out protein style or a burrito or soft tacos from Chipotle.
2.I love “the Church”, the body of Christ and I am grateful we have the freedom to worship and that we are called to live out our faith each week.
3. There are so many!… but today I will pick: “You Gotta Keep Dancin’” - Tim Hansel
4. blue eyes
5. Prayer; trying to “live in the moment” and be available when I see a need I can meet and not ignoring the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Expressing true gratitude and thinking more about living the life of an intentional Christian.

1. A #10 from Teriyaki Plus, Seattle.
2. I love ‘the church’ as the visible presence of Christ in the world, warts and all.
3. Let Justice Roll Down by John Perkins. Three ideas: Reconciliation, Relocation and Redistribution
4. great feet with very cool toe ring. my skin still way to prone to break out.
5. making do with what we have. being available for people in my community. being able to receive as well as to give. oh and when I get something new, I give away something old (no new clothes hangers).

1> if i just need food and only have 4 bucks I’ll get 2 bean and potato burritos at pedros for $3.62.
2> when i think of ‘the church’ i automatically think of ‘the catholic church’ and i become disgusted. reason~ TO ME it’s run as a political/business entity and focused around self-glorification not the spirit of christ.
3> the stranger by camus
4> my hair-line is receding all-ready
5> responsibility for my actions, i’ll take it whether they were good ones or not

1. Ravioli on sale at the grocery store ($1 a package!) and Spicy Chicken Combo at Wendys.
2. The Church is the entire body of Christ, all the way around the globe. It includes everyone who is “saved” (only God knows the heart!) and it spans all denominations, meaning we’re all the same body and we should act like it. (How can the ear say to the eye “I don’t need you?”) The Church is also Christ’s hands and feet here on earth–God uses us to love people and accomplish His will, although He doesn’t need to. (Man, it’s hard not to sound “churchy” on this answer) Finally, The Church does not refer to “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” thank you very much.
3. “The Excellent Wife” by Martha Peace (which is on Sarah’s book list at Amazon.com). When God said “consider others better than yourselves” he meant our husbands, too.
4.I like my shoulders. I don’t like my thighs.
5.Tithing: It’s all God’s money anyway.
Doing unto others/putting myself in the other person’s shoes–I’m not good at this with my husband, unfortunately. It makes me an understanding sort of person, but it also makes me wishy-washy.
