OT exam in T-minus 7 hours

Posted by Bryce on May 6th, 2004

Yeah, it’s late, and I can’t cram much more into my brain.

In less than 7 hours I need to be prepared to:
1) Do an exegesis of the following passages:
* Judges 6:11-32
* 2 Samuel 7
* 2 Kings 17:7-23
* 2 Chronicles 7:11-22.

2) Answer questions on any of the following topics:
* The War of the LORD
* The Angel of the LORD
* The composition of Ruth
* The Davidic covenant in the flow of redemptive history
* The significance of Samuel
* The adequacy of the concepts of ‘royal priesthood’ or ’sacral kingship’ in relation to the kings of Israel and Judah

Sounds fun, eh?

I’ll be ok for the exegesis, and I would be ok for some of the topical questions…but not all…and I’m having trouble keeping my eyes open.

‘ungrammatical’ thoughts

I…
-spent a number of hours today at the National Library of Scotland trying to get a massive load of reading done; I read a little bit.
-bought some gum today. haven’t had gum in the little square pellet-things, rather than in sticks, in a while.
-don’t think it’s so great that it’s May and I can see my veins in my legs. I am white!
-decided i’d rather mess around on the internet than doing more work tonight.
-am having this weird pain in the muscles surrounding my sternum; i think i strained a muscle waitressing (holding heavy tray in one hand).
-am liking no capitalisation right now.
-found out about a Christianity and lit conference to be held at westmont in january 2005 and I really want to go and present a paper and see profs, etc. (now to drum up an abstract…but i do have a few months for that).

Bryce…
-is studying about the Angel of the LORD and other tidbits and also studying major bits of Old Testament now.
-made toast for dinner tonight.
-has dried out from his rain soak.
-is thinking about publishing…what a smarty pants husband I have.
-walked with me to the national library en route to the college. normally, our routes to our various study places diverge, but he took mine today so we could walk longer together.
-after tomorrow, is half-way done with finals.
-is super duper cool.

I got stuck in the rain

I wish I had a baseball hat

Posted by Bryce on May 2nd, 2004

I didn’t bring one with me to Scotland because, apparently, they give you away as being an American. Well, after being here for over 8 months, I have come to the conclusion that everything gives me away as being an American. And sometimes there’s nothing like a good baseball hat. Like when your hair is messed up and you don’t have time to take a shower before going out. The other day I woke up from a nap with some serious bedhead and I needed to go to the hardware store ASAP. The weather has been pretty nice lately–sunny and mid-to-high 50’s. So I’m walking down the street in jeans, a short sleave t-shirt, and a beanie. Yeah, pathetic.

In other news…exams start on Tuesday and I’m nowhere near ready. Church History is on Tuesday and the lecturer has not given us any indication as to the kind of questions that will be on the exam. So, I have about a day and a half to review the entire Protestant Reformation. Then on Thursday is Old Testament. I’ve been studying for OT for the last week and a half. And I’m probably half-way ready for that exam. Once the first week of exams is over things will be a bit better. I’ll still have to cram a bunch for my Apologetics and Greek exams, but they won’t be as bad as the first two.

And then…I’m one-third of the way through seminary. Wow.
